Founded in 1902 by Mary Grimes Hutchison as a college preparatory school for girls, it was this first independent school in Memphis accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools. In 1925 Hutchison moved to the Union Ave. location. In 1964 the school moved to Ridgeway Road, continuing the tradition of educating girls for success in higher education and life. Prior to moving to its current location, the school was known as Miss Hutchison's School.
