The Dale

About 11 miles north was the house to which Catherine Sherrill Sevier moved in 1815, following the death of her husband, who had been Tennessee's first governor. She lived there until June, 1836, when she moved with a son to Alabama, where she died shortly after. She is buried beside her husband in Knoxville.
