Born 0.7 mile from here, July 4, 1868. First a teacher, then county school superintendent, he later served 10 years as Chancellor of the Fourth Division, of 15 counties. Elected Governor in 1919, he served one term, during which the Woman Suffrage Amendment to the Constitution was ratified. He died June 25, 1946.
