Madison County Established 1821; named in honor of James Madison. Fourth President of the United States. Henderson County Established 1821; named in honor of Col. James Henderson. Commander of Tennessee troops in the fighting before New Orleans. He was also a staff officer to Gen. Andrew Jackson on the Natchez Expedition, 1812-13. Erected by Tennessee Historical Commission
