The widow of Juan Nepomuceno Garcia began construction of the Garcia Opera House in 1884 and was completed in 1887. The curved shape of the 34" walls improved acoustics. The "rake" stage is one of very few still in existence in the U.S. The Garcia Opera House is a National Historic Site.
Garcia Opera House was listed in the National Register of Historic Places on August 13, 1974.
