    Listed in the National Register of Historic Places
This pass on the Santa Fe Trail's Mountain Branch was used by Brigadier General Stephen Watts Kearny for his 1846 New Mexico invasion and by Colorado Volunteers who defeated the Confederates in 1862. Richens L. "Uncle Dick" Wooten operated a toll road until the Santa Fe Railroad crossed the pass in 1879.

Raton Pass was listed in the National Register of Historic Places on October 15, 1966.
