Built in 1913, the Smith County Courthouse was designed by the Weathers-Foley Company of Memphis in the Neo-Classical Style. Cost of construction was $50,000. The present structure replaced an earlier courthouse on this site, built in 1892, which burned in 1912. Renovations were made to the courthouse in 1974.
