1540-1699: Spanish-French Explorers named this point at confluence of Pascagoula dn Escartawpa Rivers for Primeval Moss Laden Oaks Flourishing Here on Old Spanish Trail. 1841-1920: Center of sawmill industry; Worlds Largest exporters virgina long leaf yellow pine lumber. 1890: Site of Factory making glass from native sands. 1912: Site of first mill manufacturing paper from southern pine pulpwood. Home of famous Moss Point Red Azalea. City of Moss Point was incorporated, 1901. Ereced by Moss Point Garden Club, 1955.
