Built 1922 on ranch of J. Hal Pegues. Here since 1932, it has been home to 5 generations, Walter and Eva Cowden family. Stopping place for horsedrawn and early auto traffic of remote ranches for water--from area's first windmill and unique tankhouse and change to town clothes. Hospitality maintained under ownership of Odessa's former First Lady, B Essye Cowden ward and Walter Fay Cowden Averitt. Recorded Texas Historic Landmark, 1964.
