Arriving here from Blountville near noon, a detachment of the 2nd Michigan Cavalry under Lt. Col. Campbell, captured two companies of the 2nd North Carolina Infantry, burned railroad and highway bridges, then withdrew, moving with the balance of Carter's task force on Carter's Depot, where the railroad crossed Watauga River.
