To All Who Pass This Way And Pause To Rest Be It Known That
Memphis Celebrated In 1969 The 150th Anniversary Of Her Founding In 1819.
The Last Formal Act Of The Year Long Observation Was The Placing Of This Time
Capsule And The Dedication Of This Area As Sesquicentennial Plaza. In This
Capsule Are Artifacts And Records Of The Sesquicenteennial Observation. We
Urge That It Be Opened Sufficiently In Advance Of The Year 2019 So That Its
Contents May Serve As A Guide And As An Inspiration To Those Charged With
Conducting The Memphis Bicentennial Celebration. Further, We Trust That It May
Be Said Of Memphis 50 Years From Now, As It May Be Said Today, A Metropolis
With A Colorful Past, A Vigorous Present, And Unlimited Future. Memphis
