In a log cabin which stood here, Frances Eliza Hodgson, newly from England with her family, spent the winter of 1865. She helped support her family with music lessons, also opened a Select Seminary for Young People. Here she met Dr. Swan Burnett, whom she married in 1873, also started the writing which later made her famous. Erected by Tennessee Historical Commission.
