Constitutional Convention (1811-1812); Louisiana Legislature (1816-1817); Louisiana Supreme Court (1821-1833); U.S. Senate (1833-1844); Built Oaklawn Manor, 1837; Close friend, Henry Clay, visited him there in 1842.
