Dinwiddie County

Formed in 1752 from Prince George, and named for Robert Dinwiddie, Governor of Virginia 1751-56. General Winfield Scott was born in this county, and in it took place the battle of Five Forks, 1865.

Brunswick County

Formed in 1720 from Prince George, Surry, and Isle of Wight. Named for the House of Brunswick, which came to the throne of England in 1714, when George I was crowned king. Colonial Fort Christanna was in this county.
