Three miles north is Eldon, birthplace and home of Henry D. Hal Flood (1865-1921). A member of the United States House of Representatives (1901-1921), and Chairman of the Committee on Foreign Affairs (1913-1919), he drafted the Resolution declaring war on Germany and Austria, April 6, 1917.
