Former District Judge Edward J. Hamner and his wife Mary Louise brought their family to Sweetwater in 1911. They had this home constructed that same year, and it remained in the Hamner family until 1938. Built in the Prairie School style with American Foursquare and Jacobethan Revival style elements, the home features half-timbered gables, bay windows, arts and crafts front door transom and sidelights, and a wrap-around porch. Recorded Texas Historic Landmark, 1989.
