1 mi. N. was the home of William Nelson. A native of Virginia, he was one of the earliest settlers in this region and served in The Revolutionary War. Francis Asbury, early Methodist bishop, held annual conferences here in 1793, 1796, and 1797. Asbury called Nelson's house An ancient home of Methodists and Methodist preaching.
