A lifelong resident of Tipton County, Charles Bryson Simonton (1838-1911) was educated at Erskine College and; while serving as Captain, 9th Tennessee Infantry, CSA, was wounded at the Battle of Perryville, Kentucky. He was an educator, lawyer, state legislator, Congressman, and U.S. District Attorney. This antebellum town house was his home for over 40 years.
