Bradley was born in Caswell County, North Carolina, and settled in this area in 1798. He served at the siege of Charleston, South Carolina, during The Revolutionary War, and in February 1812 he volunteered for service under General James Winchester. Oaklawn, Bradley's two-story brick house, is located .4 mile south.
