4.6 miles. On Dec. 19, 1862, Forrest demonstrated actively with part of his brigade against Federal forces along the ridge near this cemetery, driving them toward Jackson. Meanwhile, Dibrell's regt cut the M&O RR at Carroll, 5 miles N.W., and CoL. Biffle, with Russell's and Cox's units, broke the railroad between Jackson and Bolivar.
