The Lincoln County Poor Farm operated on 230 acres in these hills. Many lived and died here. Some 100 that died here are buried on the hillside 500 yards northwest of this location. No grave identifications remain. At minimal taxpayers' expense, this farm afforded meaningful, pleasant, and homelike existence to discarded and helpless people of all ages. Everyone had a job.
