Lincoln County Established 1809; named in honor of Maj. Gen. Benjamin Lincoln of The Revolution ary Army. After service at Saratoga, he was put in Chief Command in the Southern Colonies. Later, he was Secretary of War under the Confederation, 1718-83. Moore County Established 1871; named in honor of Maj. Gen. William Moore. He settled in Tennessee in 1808, coming from Kentucky. Commanded a company in the Creek War; finished the War of 1812 as a Major General; Member of the State House of Representatives, 1825-27. Erected by Tennessee Historical Commission
