Established 1792; named in honor of

Maj. Gen. Henry Knox.


Washington's Chief of Artillery in The Revolutionary War. Secretary of War in Washington's Cabinet. One of the founders and first secretary of the Society of the Cincinnati.

Anderson County
Established 1801; named in honor of

Senator Joseph Anderson (1797 to 1815).


Formerly judge of the Territory South of the River Ohio, 1791-96; later, Comptroller of the Treasury under President Madison.

Erected by Tennessee Historical Commission.
