Lew Wallace's 3rd Div., Army of the Tennessee, moved southeast along this road into position on the right of the .battered Federal line. It failed to arrive in time for the first day's fighting, but took part in the counterattack the morning of Apr. 7, which neutralized Confederate successes of the first day.
