Below here, where Suck Creek enters Tennessee River, was a formidable whirlpool and rapids, a navigational hazard for pioneer users of the river. Frequently used as an ambush location by the Chickamauga's, it was the scene of an exciting adventure of the Donelson party enroute to Nashborough, now Nashville, 1780.
