Cumberland Mountain School 1921-1938 Reverend Robert Hershey Hall walked over this county serving an eight church circuit. His intercession in behalf of many young people who were being denied the opportunity for education led to the establishment of Cumberland Mountain School by the Methodist Episcopal Church, South, in 1921. During the seventeen years of operation more than 650 young people's lives were enriched. Six historic structures and the campus remain. This property has been placed on the national Register of Historic Places by the United States Department of the Interior. Erected by Cumberland Mountain School Alumni Cumberland Mountain School was listed in the National Register of Historic Places on August 05, 1993.
