Located on this three-acre site, the original 42' x 48' brick structure was completed in 1869 at a cost of $12,000. The first-floor offices and the courtroom on the second floor of the original structure are still in use today. The front addition, designed by architect R.E. Turbeville, was added in 1914 at a cost of $25,000. On December 12, 1976, the courthouse was listed in the National Register of Historic Places
