Tate School
(1908?1933)

This was the site of Tate School until the main building burned in 1928. The school then moved to Atkinson Street, now Ridgeway Avenue. The unique teaching system of the founder, James A. Tate, attracted local students, students from across Tennessee and other states, and some from outside the continental United States.
