West of this marker lies the grave site of a Union Soldier who was killed in a skirmish with Confederate soldiers at Bayou Goula on January 25,1865. His name is believed to be Private David Ingraham, Third Rhode Island Calvary, Company H. He was given a Christian burial by Mrs. Florestine Lambremont Richard and was buried under an Oak tree at the rear of the Lambremont Plantation. He was twenty years old.
