A 1900 vintage photo of a small cattle heard grazing along the banks of a creek on the Santa Margarita Ranch in San Diego County. The photograph is from the California Historical Society Collection. Santa Margarita y Las Flores was settled by Franciscan missionaries in the 1770s next to the Mission San Juan Capistrano. Later, Santa Margarita was a Mexican land grant given by governor Juan Alvarado in 1841 to Andrés Pico and Pio Pico. |
