Historical Marker
On land owned by Capt. William G. Hunt (1813-98), a Virginian who came here about 1831, fought in Texas War of Independence (1836), was a trader, fought in Civil War (1861-65), and was a vestry of St. John's Episcopal Church. He is said to have lived on this site early as 1859. Material in the structure suggest that this house has been greatly modified since that date. After several other occupancies, Mr. and Mrs. Lee Cassell bought the house in 1948.
